Want to pay off my dads car and have him sign the car over to me?

My dad bought me a car because I had to go through a bankruptcy. I've been in chapter 13 for two years and my father and i are talking about finally transfering the car into my name. He's getting sick and he's worried about what will happen to the car if something should happen to him. I'm wondering what that process would be? I know i need to talk to my bk lawyer before I do this but what after that? Are there any bad credit auto loans out there...somewhere reputable maybe? Then when I pay off the balance would my father just need to sign the title over? i just need to know what I can do. Any answers are appreciated.
