What to do when a bank takes your money?

Recently, my mother filed for bankruptcy, and we have a joint bank account for some reason. she doesn't use the account, or have any money in it, but we each have our separate accounts at the same time.. i have my own bank card with my name on it. and today i went into the bank to get money and they told me that every last penny of it was taken because my mother filed bankruptcy. are there any steps i can take, if any? my mother already contacted her bankruptcy attorney. but ethically, i do not feel as if this could be right.. i worked for that money.
